Newark-on-Trent is a busy market town close to the A1 in the east of Nottinghamshire. It has a whole host of attractions which include historic buildings, great museums, golf courses and other sporting facilities. Points of interest
Newark Castle is a main point of interest here and is famous for the role it played in the English Civil War. If you’re interested in such things, leave your car at the local NCP Newark-on-Trent car park and join the Nottinghamshire Civil War Trail. This takes in sites in Newark as well as other parts of the county and will give you a better insight into the eventful history of the area at that time. If you have any interest in aviation be sure not to miss Newark Air Museum with its fine collection of Hawkers, Buccaneers and Vulcans and its special events, including open cockpit weekends.
