The world-famous concert venue in London’s South Kensington area is probably best known for its summer Proms series, performed each year since 1941. The Royal Albert Hall has a capacity of 5,272 seats, hosting hundreds of events each year including classical, rock and pop concerts, ballet, opera, award ceremonies and banquets.
When Queen Victoria opened the Albert Hall in 1871, the acoustics were so bad engineers had to install a huge canvas awning below the dome to reduce the echo. The problem wasn’t entirely solved until 1969.
