Number plate recognition technology is being introduced at both the Short Stay and Long Stay car parks to make arriving and exiting the car park quicker and easier. The entrance to the Long Stay car park is also changing.
Q: Why have you introduced new technology at Norwich Airport car parks?
A: Our aim is to improve customer’s experiences at Norwich Airport. Parking is an integral part of the journey at the airport and with the installation of new Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology we’re hoping you will have a quicker and simpler parking experience
Q: How does ANPR work?
A: Our cameras will read your number plate on arrival at the barrier and check for a pre-booking. If a booking is found, the barrier will raise automatically. If you’ve prebooked and the barrier doesn’t raise, please press for assistance and and have your booking reference to hand so one of our staff can assist you.
Q: Why isn't a ticket issued?
Our ANPR solution is ticketless so a ticket isn't required to raise the barrier if you’ve prebooked. This makes the process quicker and more efficient as tickets will only be dispensed for customers arriving at our car park without a booking or if there is a problem locating your booking in our system.
Q: Should I press for a ticket if I have prebooked?
A: No. Once the cameras read your number plate at the barrier and has located your booking, the barrier will raise. If you’ve prebooked and the barrier doesn’t raise, don’t press for a ticket. Please press for assistance and one of our staff will assist you.
Q: I prebooked and the barrier hasn’t raised, why has that happened?
A: There could be a number of reasons for this including your number plate hasn’t correctly been read by the cameras, or you’ve arrived in a different car than the one entered on the booking or your number doesn’t match the information on your booking. We recommend that you check the details carefully on your booking to ensure this is correct. You can amend your vehicle registration on your booking up to 4 hours before arrival into the car park.
Q: How will I exit the car park?
A: Simply drive to the exit barrier and again our camera’s will read your number plate to confirm your booking and the barrier will raise. If you have pre-booked but were issued a ticket by our staff, you will need this to exit the car park. Simply enter the ticket into the exit column and the barrier will raise.
Q: Why have you moved the entrance to the Long Stay car park?
A: This change has been made to ease congestion and improve traffic flow into our Long Stay car park using our the new ANPR solution.
Q: Where is the new entrance to the Long Stay car park?
A: Take the left turn at the first roundabout on Amsterdam Way and you will find our Long Stay car park on your right. Look out for signage as you approach the Airport to direct you to the entrance.

Q: Is there any changes to the entrance of the Short Stay car park?
A: No. Follow the signage for Short Stay car park as you approach the airport
Q: I need to update the vehicle registration details on my booking, is that possible?
A: Yes. You can update your vehicle registration details up to 4 hours before arrival into the car park. Simply log into your account and select your booking to update the information.
